Xfinity Internet customers can sign in with their usernames and passwords, which will then automatically connect them to an Xfinity Wifi hotspots in the future, a Comcast statement said.

When users are in range of an Xfinity hotspot, the "xfinityWifi" name will appear in hotspots available, allowing the user to launch his or her browser, according to the Herald. A map of hotspots can be found at Xfinity.com/Wifi.

"We know it's critically important for everyone to have a means of communication at their disposal before, during and after a storm with the potential impact of Hurricane Irma," Amy Smith, senior vice president for Comcast's Florida region, said in a statement.

"By activating our Wifi hotspot network across the state now before the storm, we increase the chance that more people can stay connected. It's something we're proud to do for our communities and our state at a time when we all need to support each other," Smith continued.

The Comcast statement added that local power must be restored before video, phone, and internet services can begin working.
