Corndog Spill Shuts Down La. Highway as Snack Truck Overturns

By    |   Tuesday, 25 March 2014 06:26 PM EDT

An overturned tractor-trailer spilled its cargo of corndogs along I-220 in Shreveport, La., early Tuesday morning, shutting down the road for hours.

The corndog spill occurred around 3:40 a.m. local time, according to WBRZ in Baton Rouge. The road was closed until around 12:30 p.m. while crews cleaned up the area.

State Police told WBRZ that the rig flipped and hit a guard rail, emptying thousands of the popular snacks out onto the road. No one was hurt in the accident.

Twitter was amused by the corndog chaos.

This was the second corn-related spill in four months. In December, a truck driver apparently blacked out from a sneeze. His vehicle overturned in Pennsylvania, leaking corn syrup on the highway. Crews retrieved several hundred gallons of corn syrup in metal drums and soaked up the rest using anti-skid material.
