Costco is replacing Polish hot dogs with more healthful items on its food court menu, and customers aren’t taking it lying down. In fact, some are feeling downright betrayed.
“Just when you thought nothing more could possibly go wrong in 2018, this little announcement may truly be the delicious tubular meat that breaks the camel’s back,” said Scary Mommy.
The blogger called the beloved Polish dog the “only part of a Costco trip that makes you feel better about somehow spending $250 on nothing but diapers and Tide pods.”
Folks on social media agreed wholeheartedly and banded together to voice their disgust using the hashtag #SaveThePolishDog, with one proclaiming, “This is not my America.”
The social media complaints piled in to Costco, and many offered suggestions and demands. Some cursed vegans, blaming the move on them.
Customers also took to Costco’s Facebook page to voice their shock and disapproval.
"Please, PLEASE reconsider putting the polish dogs back on the menu!” Michael Sullivan implored. “They have way more flavor and are better than the hot dogs and are the only thing that makes the idea of an hour shopping with toddlers seem bearable!!"
“Having been Exec members for over 25 years, we've noticed how Costco has been periodically eliminating the products we buy most consistently ... brown rice bowls, Worcestershire, onion soup mix, lousier toilet paper quality etc,” complained M.J. Lebel. “Now they want to get rid of the Polish dogs. We never eat hotdogs EXCEPT the Polish at Costco. We've been seriously considering dropping our membership for a while now. Maybe it's time.”
