Rising country music star Taylor Dee has died at age 33. The Texas singer, born Taylor Dawn Carroll, was killed on March 14 in a roll-over car crash on State Highway 183 near Euless, Texas, Today confirmed Tuesday.
"Taylor Dee will be deeply missed by so many but her powerful voice and message will echo for eternity," her agent said in a statement.
"She touched more people in her short lifetime than many do with a very long life," the statement added.
Dee smashed her 2002 Chevy Trailblazer into a cushion barrier while attempting to make an abrupt lane change after missing her turn off, the Euless Police Department said. Her vehicle flipped into the air, hit an overhead sign with its roof, and came to rest upside down on the highway. It is believed that Dee was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. She was found not far from the wreck in "grave condition."
A second passenger, an unidentified man, sustained non-threatening injuries in the crash.
Officials suspect alcohol may have been a contributing factor but this is pending a toxicology report. They added that there will likely not be any criminal charges filed following the crash.
"Taylor Dee was the real deal,” said Linda Wilson, the President of Texas Country Music Association. "A true talent with a heart and passion not only for her music but for people. In every performance her talent was evident, but more importantly she allowed her fans to know her heart."
A GoFundMe campaign was created in wake of Dee's passing, listing Karla Terrell as the beneficiary. It is not clear who Terrell is but it appears she may be a family member as the page appeals for donations to "help our family lay her to rest."
