Crater Lake National Park in the Cascade Mountains of southern Oregon had to be closed after getting a taste of the heavy snows plaguing California. Several stranded people had to be rescued.
The park partially reopened Wednesday afternoon, according to the Statesman Journal.
A California couple reported missing on Friday and a snowshoer missing since Monday were found on Wednesday, said the Herald and News.
Marlene Valle, 27, and Jason Hoang, 27, were forced to stay in a heated restroom in Rim Village and weren't able to contact park officials until Wednesday. An overdue backcountry snowshoer was also found in the heated restroom.
Park officials used a rotary snow plow to clear the three-mile road from park headquarters to Rim Village to reach the stranded visitors.
Oregon Route 62 south and Munson Valley Road to Crater Lake's park headquarters was cleared but the state highway from the Union Creek and Medford area remains closed, said the Statesman Journal.
Heavy snow and high winds pounded Crater Lake National Park for several days.
On Wednesday, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown declared a state of emergency throughout the state because of the severe weather conditions.
Heavy rain has caused widespread flooding and mudslides California over the past week, while several feet of snow has been dumped on the Sierra Nevada, reported The Weather Channel.
Up to 79 inches of snow fell in the Lake Tahoe region during the 48 hours ending Wednesday morning.
