Dakota Meyer, the Medal of Honor recipient who called off his May wedding to Bristol Palin, has filed for joint custody of her new baby girl, who was born two days before Christmas.
The Los Angeles Times reported that in addition to joint legal and physical custody, Meyer, 27, has also asked for child support.
This, in turn, has upset both Bristol and her mother Sarah — aka "Mama Grizzly."
"My values are such that a real American hero doesn't ask for child support," Bristol said via her representative David Martin,
ET reported.
"For many months we have been trying to reach out to Dakota Myers [sic] and he has wanted nothing to do with either Bristol's pregnancy or the baby," said Sarah Palin.
She added that she thinks Meyer is just trying to "save face" by filing for joint custody.
No matter how the issue turns out, Meyer's posts on Instagram and Twitter show that he is proud of the new bundle of joy. Her name is Sailor Grace.
"Best Christmas present ever!! I couldn't be more proud of this little blessing," Meyer wrote underneath a photo of the newborn he posted to Instagram.
Bristol's rep, however, said that it was unclear how Meyer received the photo he posted.
Other pictures posted just last week by the Palins show that Sailor Grace was greeted warmly by her big brother, Tripp.
Meyer and Palin were engaged in March 2015, and planned to get married just two months later, in May. The wedding was called off, however, just a week before the big date.
The next month, in June, Palin revealed that she was pregnant with her second child.
