NRA national spokesperson Dana Loesch in CPAC speech Thursday said "many in legacy media love mass shootings" because of the increase in media consumption around them.
"Many in legacy media love mass shootings – you guys love it," Loesch said Thursday after taking the stage for the annual conservative conference, CNN reported. "Now, I'm not saying that you love the tragedy. But I am saying that you love the ratings. Crying white mothers are ratings gold to you and many in the legacy media in the back (of the room)."
"And notice I said 'crying white mothers' because there are thousands of grieving black mothers in Chicago every weekend, and you don't see town halls for them, do you?" Loesch continued.
Loesch also used the speech to point to the FBI. The federal agency received warnings about the Parkland, Florida, high school shooter before the attack but did not follow protocol or foward reports to the Miami field office.
"My condemnation is for those at the FBI — I know there are good FBI agents there — who dropped the ball eight separate times with catastrophic consequences," she said, The Hill reported.
Loesch also blasted the CNN Town Hall on Wednesday night at which she sparred with Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, saying it was done to boost network ratings and did not fairly reflect the public's opinions.
She claimed in the Thursday speech that she needed private security when leaving the town hall because "there were people rushing the stage and screaming 'burn her,'" CNN reported.
