Danica Patrick's GoDaddy Super Bowl 2014 Ad: Less Than Risque

Danica Patrick's GoDaddy Super Bowl 2014 Ad: Less Than Risque

Danica Patrick and GoDaddy have teamed up for yet another Super Bowl ad, but this time the race car driver is anything but risqué.

She has ditched the sultry look for a lifelike muscle-bound body suit.

GoDaddy’s ads have been criticized for making little or no sense, and her appearance in last year’s spot featuring supermodel Bar Refaeli making out with a nerd ranked last in USA Today’s annual Super Bowl ad meter. In her 13th GoDaddy Super Bowl spot, Patrick is a ripped bodybuilder leading a pack of muscle-bound men to a spray-tan business, according to Sports Illustrated.

The theme of the spot is “It’s Go Time” and focuses on how the website domain provider helps small businesses that want to get noticed online. The Los Angeles Times reported the body suit was made by Legacy Effects, the same company behind the special effects for the movie “Iron Man 3.”

The latest commercial is change for Patrick, whose previous commercials have focused on her sex appeal.

The Super Bowl is the biggest advertising night of the year, and fans watching from home often anticipate the commercials as much as the game – especially when the NFL’s championship contest is a snoozer. Up to 110 million people are expected to be watching the Feb. 2 game.

Super Bowl XLVII is being played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Ad Age reported Fox Sports averaged some $4 million for each 30-second spot. Other stars featured in Super Bowl ads include Scarlett Johansson in a SodaStream spot, Ben Kingsley in a Jaguar commercial and Stephen Colbert pitching Wonderful Pistachios.

Anheuser Busch bought five ads covering 3 ½ minutes, including two celebrity-filled spots, according to Ad Age. The ads will unveil a new Bud Light campaign, “The Perfect Beer for Whatever Happens.” A third spot features a new aluminum bottle. Budweiser will have two ads, including one that honors veterans returning from Afghanistan.
