Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Nick Punto got to celebrate his home run Monday night with one of his biggest fans, actor Danny DeVito.

DeVito, wearing Punto's No. 7 jersey at Monday's game, high-fived the star shortstop after he hit a home run in the seventh inning. The play led the Dodgers to a 4-2 victory over the New York Mets, according to the Bleacher Report.

DeVito, who stars in the FX series "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," came on the field after the game to greet Punto.

"I didn't get it back, either," said Punto, who met the actor for the first time on Monday. "I've never seen someone so excited. He said, 'It felt amazing for me. It must have felt good for you.'"

It was Punto's second home run this season for Los Angeles. He had a career-high four home runs when he played for the Minnesota Twins in 2005, according to ESPN. He has a .974 fielding percentage and is batting .262 so far in 2013, some 14 points above his career batting average of .248.

After a rough start to the season because of players' injuries, the Dodgers are on a winning streak, with victories in nine of its last 10 games. The team's record before Monday's game was 69-50.

The five-foot-tall DeVito won an Emmy for his role as Louie DePalma in the hit 1970s series "Taxi." His extensive movie credits include "Throw Mama from the Train" in 1987, "The War of the Roses" in 1989, "Batman Returns" in 1992, "L.A. Confidential" in 1997, and voice actor in "The Lorax" in 2012. He also directed the movie "St. Sebastian," which will be released later this year and stars William Fichtner and Connie Zimmer.

His production company wife Rhea Perlman, Jersey Films, has produced movies like "Pulp Fiction" in 1994 and "Erin Brockovich" in 2000.
