Wrestling star Dave Bautista has been cast as the newest Bond villain following his breakout role as Drax the Destroyer in this summer's megahit "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Latino Review reported in a Monday exclusive that the producers of "Bond 24" — the unnamed 24th installment in the James Bond movie series — originally put out a casting description stating they were "looking to follow in the tradition of Jaws and Oddjob in finding an iconic baddy." According to inside sources, Bautista quickly clinched the role.
The villain's name is listed as "Hinx," a male between 30-45 years of age.
"Hinx is the main henchman/assassin," reads a leaked casting document. "We are looking for an imposing extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background."
Producers also cast French actress Léa Seydoux as Bond's romantic interest just last week, and filming for "Bond 24" is set to begin in early December.
In the meantime, Bautista and Seydoux will meet with fellow castmates Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie Harris in November for a script rehearsal.
Pinewood Studios in England will host the majority of the filming, but 007 is also expected to travel to Austria, Rome, and possibly Morocco for the new film. It is slated for a fall release next year.
