The Police Department said the 63-year-old was arrested after midnight for felony driving while intoxicated and failure to dim headlights. He was arraigned and placed in Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail, due to a prior conviction. He later paid a fine and has since been released.
According to the Times Union, Cassidy had a .10 percent blood alcohol content when he was pulled over by Officer Tom Jones.
Rensselaer County District Attorney Richard McNally told the paper that when Jones introduced himself, Cassidy said, "What's new, pussycat?" a reference to a song made famous by well-known Las Vegas crooner Tom Jones.
Chief Bernhard Peter told People that Cassidy "was cooperative. He was a total gentleman and didn't give us a problem whatsoever."
He's scheduled to return to court on Sept. 4.
The former 1970s heartthrob often spends time at Saratoga Race Course, though his full-time address is in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

In 2010, Cassidy was arrested for DUI and driving with an open container. After pleading no contest in February 2011, he had his license suspended for six months and received one year of probation. He attended a school for drunken drivers, was fined $500, and served 50 hours of community service.
Cassidy, who played Keith Partridge, the eldest of the television family, is the latest in a long line of celebrities who have been charged with drunken driving. Just recently, R&B singer-songwriter
Miguel was arrested for DUI, and while she wasn't driving,
Reese Witherspoon had a rather embarrassing encounter with cops when her husband was pulled over under suspicion of driving under the influence.
