Dallas and Clear Channel radio personality David "Kidd" Kraddick died Saturday while at a charity fundraiser near New Orleans Saturday for his nonprofit. He was 53.

Kraddick, the host of "Kid Kraddick in the Morning" on KHKS-FM in Dallas, was also syndicated in more than 100 other Clear Channel stations, according to the Dallas Morning News.

A post on the website of WEZB-FM in New Orleans said Kraddick was in town for a golf tournament raising money for his nonprofit organization called "Kidd's Kids." WEZB-FM, which carried Kraddick's morning show, reported that Kraddick spent the last hours of his life doing what he loved.

"He was a gifted radio talent and a generous man," said the WEZB-FM post. "He will always be a part of B97 and we will miss him every day. Our deepest sympathy to his family, especially his daughter Caroline, and to his on-air family of Kellie, Big Al, J-Si and Jenna. … His final day was spent selflessly focused on those special children that meant the world to him."

Clear Channel's Dallas market manager Kelly Kibler issued a statement about Kraddick's death to the Morning News.

"Kidd devoted his life to making people smile every morning, and for 21 years, his foundation has been dedicated to bringing joy to thousands of chronically and terminally ill children," the Clean Channel statement read.

Kraddick has been on air in Dallas since 1984, beginning the late night shift at KEGL-FM. He began his morning show at KHKS-FM in 1992 and his show was syndicated to more than 100 cities, according to Kraddick's website.
