David Schwimmer helped cops solve an early morning altercation near his Lower East Side Manhattan residence that reportedly involved a john, a robber, and a prostitute.
The "Friends" star reportedly provided the NYPD with surveillance video taken by his security camera Monday that revealed the faces of the alleged stabber — 21-year-old Robert Rainey, as well as that of another individual who fled the scene and is still being sought by police.

The incident occurred at about 5:40 a.m. Monday in a first floor apartment of a building adjacent to Schwimmer's residence. According to witnesses, the fight soon spilled out into the hallway where one of the men smashed through a glass lobby door,
the New York Post reported.
According to the New York Daily News, the unnamed john was in the bathroom with the transgendered prostitute when he heard another man in his apartment. Realizing he was being robbed, the 26-year-old man attempted to stop the robber at which point the prostitute sprayed him with pepper spray, sources told the paper.
Despite being doused by pepper spray, the victim reportedly attempted to wrestle his computer back from the robber at which point Rainey allegedly pulled out a box cutter and slashed his face, according to police.
The john was subsequently taken to Bellevue Hospital where his face was stitched up. The man was not charged with any crime for using a prostitute, the Daily News reported.
Rainey, for his alleged role in the attack, was subsequently charged with robbery, assault with intent to cause dismemberment and disfigurement, criminal possession of stolen property, and criminal mischief, police told the Daily News.
Prior to providing police with the surveillance tape, Schwimmer was apparently not well-liked on the block due to the ongoing renovation on the site of his new pad – a 160-year-old building that he converted into a home.
"Four years ago, I would say David Schwimmer was the least popular guy on the block with the construction and all," 31-year-old local resident Jayson Fillermutter told the Post. "But he has turned out to be a decent neighbor, and I am glad to hear he helped the cops with that stabbing."
According to the Post, Schwimmer spent $4 million to purchase the property in 2010.
