A "Deadpool 2" new trailer released Thursday gives fans a glimpse of what to expect in the coming superhero film, due out in May, including the introduction of X-Force.
The trailer, released by 20th Century Fox, includes a share of wisecracks. Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, reveals that his team to take on Josh Brolin's Cable will be called X-Force Domino, played by Zazie Beetz, quips, "isn't that a little derivative?"
"I love it," said Rob Liefeld, the comic book creator behind Deadpool, Cable and X-Force, explaining the joke in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter.
"It's even funnier when so many people are like, 'X-Force is the first derivative of X-Men?' I say, 'Actually it was something like the fifth.' But in movies, it's the first," he continues, referring to Marvel Comics including X-Factor, X-Terminators and X-Corps.
The trailer also reveals other cast members, including Terry Crews as Bedlam, Rob Delayney as someone named Peter, and Shiori Kutsuna as an X-Force member, Vulture noted.
Ryan Reynolds ribbed his wife, Blake Lively, in the trailer, with a jab at her 2005 movie "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," the "Today" show noted.
"Doing the right thing is messy, but if you wanna fight for what’s right, sometimes you have to fight dirty," Reynolds' Deadpool says in the trailer. "And that is why 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' is pure pornography."
Fans shared their thoughts about the trailer on Twitter.
