A Florida deputy removed a Doritos bag from a deer's head in the Florida Keys, allowing it to breathe more easily, the Associated Press reported.

The Monroe County sheriff’s deputy discovered the Key deer while on patrol late Saturday evening. Its entire head was stuck in the chips bag.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Becky Herrin says the deer allowed the deputy to remove the Doritos bag without a struggle.

Key deer are the smallest of the Virginia white-tailed deer subspecies and are endangered. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services says the deer have been threatened by development, habitat loss and hurricanes.

Florida Keys visitors need to properly dispose of trash to protect animals from harm, Herrin said.
