A deer-in-the-UFO-headlights video was captured by a trail camera in backwoods Mississippi by a couple hoping to see a buck or some other interesting wildlife at night.
In the footage shot Feb. 16 by a night vision camera set up in Jackson County by Rainer and Edith Shattles, a pair of headlights hovers over the ground close to several deer for about 30 minutes.
There were no paved roads in the vicinity of the encounter and the pair of headlights appeared to gradually grow brighter as the unidentified flying object hovered closer to the deer in the trail.
In the video, the deer appeared undisturbed by the beam of light emanating from the hovering craft, which at the end of the video flew off not to be seen again.
"Well at first, I was trying to see if it was something or a reason for what we were seeing. But the more we looked at it, the more we realized that it was something that was in the air, it was something that I had never seen before,"
Rainer Shattles told WLOX.com.
As for whether close encounter actually involved an alien, Shattles couldn’t say, believing the hovering craft might have possibly been a government drone.
"Well, if it's alien, I'm not sure about that. But it's definitely a UFO," Shattles continued. "Now whether it's a government drone or what, I wish if nothing else, one of them would step up and say, 'Yes, that's ours.'"
In addition to sharing the video with local media, the Mississippi couple also showed it to friends in the hopes that they could shed some light on it.
"It's a puzzle that may never be solved and it's one that's kind of fun, adds a little flavor to life, I guess you could say," Shattles said. "We are just fascinated over it because of the fact that it was right here and it's real."
"Unusual things happen around here, but it's usually associated with our grandchildren," Edith Shattles added in the interview with WLOX.com. "But this case, we didn't know what it was."
