The shooting at a bar near Alabama State University killed Kimberle Johnson, 21, and Doe B, whose real name was Glenn Thomas, 22.

Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene, but Thomas was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Six other people were injured in the shooting, which a police statement said resulted from a “dispute with the rapper,” MSN said. The six people are all in stable condition.

Doe B was an up-and-coming rapper, signing to Interscope Records earlier this year and joining T.I.’s Hustle Gang.

Hollywood Life reported that Doe B’s 3-year-old daughter attended a candlelight vigil for her dad that took place outside the bar where he was shot.

Doe B’s management team, the Blueprint Group, made the following statement to Hollywood Life about the star: “Doe B was an amazing young man, in every sense of the word. A truly talented artist, a loving father and a dedicated member of the hip hop community at large, he touched the lives of the many people who had the privilege of knowing him. We ask that you remember him not by his untimely death, but by his love of life and the music he left behind.”
