Domino's Pizza has introduced a "Specialty Chicken" menu item, which has a fried chicken "crust" topped with pizza toppings.
Billed on the company website as "our boneless chicken covered in toppings, sauces and cheeses," the Specialty Chicken pizza replaces pizza crust with a cluster of breaded and fried chicken pieces in one of four flavors: Classic Hot Buffalo, Spicy Jalapeno Pineapple, Sweet Barbecue Bacon, and Crispy Bacon & Tomato.

"Our new Specialty Chicken is one of the most creative, innovative menu items we've ever had," Domino's Pizza Chief Marketing Officer Russell Weiner said in a news release. "Our pizza chefs have taken chicken to a whole new level, using our unique ingredients to create these four bold flavors."
Domino's said Specialty Chicken is the chain's first new venture since Handmade Pan Pizza arrived in September 2012. Television commercials for the product are scheduled to start airing April 21, and will describe the company's willingness to take risks.
As part of its introduction, the company is giving away 25,000 orders of Specialty Chicken to fans who enter a contest on its Facebook page.
Founded in 1960, Domino's delivers more than 1 million pizzas a day worldwide, and operates more than 10,500 stores in more than 70 countries, according to its website.
The Domino's announcement came on the same day that KFC said it was bringing back its double-down sandwich for a limited time. Introduced in 2010, the product is a bacon and cheese sandwich between two fried chicken filets instead of bread.
