A drunk passenger playing with a sex doll forced a Jet2 airliner to make an emergency landing, Fox News reported, even after the disruptive passenger was warned both by the flight crew and then the pilot himself.
Jet2, a low-cost British airline based at Leeds Bradford Airport, issued a lifetime ban to the disruptive passenger who was on the flight from Belfast to Ibiza, the BBC News reported. The airliner was diverted to Toulouse because of the disturbance.
Jet2 told BBC News the male passenger was with a group that was "aggressive towards the crew and fellow passengers."
Fox News said the man was drinking alcohol he apparently brought onto the flight and was "playing with a blow-up doll."
"The captain introduced himself and gave a really stern warning and reiterated that only alcohol bought on board could be consumed on flight and duty free can't be consumed," a passenger told BBC News.
The passenger became "verbally abusive" when flight attendants cut off his alcohol request.
"In consultation with the captain we had to take the unusual decision to divert the aircraft as the situation on board escalated and he was taken off the aircraft with the assistance of the police in Toulouse," the airline said, according to the BBC News.
"We will not under any circumstances tolerate this type of disgraceful behavior on board our aircraft," Phil Ward, managing director of Jet2 said in a statement. "We will be taking further action in support of our crew to ensure [the passenger] is held accountable for his actions and indeed [he] has already received a lifetime ban from future Jet2 flights."
The British broadcaster said it was not clear if the man was charged with an offense or still being held in Toulouse after he was arrested.
