New trailers for "Dunkirk" seem to be coming hot and heavy now, with the latest one released May 5 showing the evacuation of Allied troops during the World War II battle and the first look at pop star Harry Styles.
The movie focuses on hundreds of thousands of doomed soldiers who needed to get out of the French port of Dunkirk before German forces arrive. It stars Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Harry Styles, Cillian Murphy and Kenneth Branagh, among other big names, according to The Verge.
Director Christopher Nolan filmed the movie’s action sequences with 65-millimeter film using IMAX cameras, which goes beyond his efforts for the “Dark Knight” trilogy and “Interstellar,” The Verge reported.
The film’s July 21 release date is more than two months away, and the hype continues as little bits of the movie are revealed with each trailer.
Unlike previous war movies, “Dunkirk” will have even more stunning visuals and a score that will heighten the suspense about whether the soldiers will get out before it’s too late (even though history buffs will already know how things will unfold), according to Slate.com.
The cinematography and relative lack of dialogue strive for super-realism in portraying the events the movie showcases — hundreds of thousands of soldiers trying to escape Dunkirk in civilian ships and only a handful of airplanes to provide cover, The Verge reported.
The trailer was released to coincide with the opening weekend of Marvel’s "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2," which debuted Thursday at midnight and is expected to draw wide audiences, Variety reported.
Twitter fans were apprehensive about Styles' part in the movie (whether he would die) and generally favorable toward the trailer.
