Dustin Diamond – TV's Screech – Claims Stabbing an Accident

By    |   Tuesday, 30 December 2014 10:06 AM EST

Dustin Diamond posted bail Monday and was released from jail after spending the weekend in lockup for allegedly stabbing someone during a Christmas Day bar fight.

Diamond, the now-37-year-old actor who played Screech on "Saved by the Bell," was arrested Thursday night after he and his fiancée got into a fight with two men and a woman at a bar in Port Washington, Wisconsin, TMZ reported.

Diamond, who said he accidentally stabbed one of the men during the tussle, posted $10,000 bail Monday and faced a hearing at Ozaukee County Circuit Court. He has been charged with second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct, and carrying a concealed weapon.

The stabbed man was not seriously injured, according to The Associated Press.

Diamond, who has stayed mostly out of the spotlight since his days as Zack Morris' sidekick (save for a sex tape controversy and explosive tell-all book), made headlines last week for his involvement in a "Saved by the Bell" skit on truTV's sketch comedy show "Friends of the People."

In the bit, Diamond plays Bayside High principal Mr. Belding, and attempts to explain the reasoning of sitcoms to the school's African American students.
