It’s hard not to come across The Rock, even when he’s not in the movies. He’ll pop up at events and promotions, but here are five things you didn’t know about him:
1. He played in the Canadian Football League — It wasn’t the NFL, but The Rock signed with the Calgary Stampeders, though he was eventually let go. He called it “very sobering” when he was told he wasn’t good enough, the Cheat Sheet reported.
2. He named his production company Seven Bucks for a reason — In 1995, after being cut by the Stampeders, he was broke and that’s all the money he had — a five, a one, and some change, he told Esquire. He didn’t even have a car and his father picked him up at the Miami airport. “The term ‘seven bucks’ has a lot of meaning,” he said.
3. “Saturday Night Live” launched his acting career — During his incredibly successful wrestling career, Johnson hosted the popular NBC late show in 2000. He then began receiving acting offers. He appeared on TV shows, such as “Star Trek: Voyager” and “That ‘70s Show,” and made his film debut in “The Mummy Returns” in 2001.

4. He helped introduce the Xbox — The Rock appeared with Bill Gates in 2001 for the video game promotion, the Thrillist noted. Calling it “powerful” and “exhilarating,” Johnson said, “like The Rock, it will be the most electrifying thing coming out this year.”
5. The Rock eats seven meals a day — That comes out to about 10 pounds of food each day for a total of 5,165 calories, according to HowStuffWorks. He has a serving of cod for at least three of those meals, and he works out each morning before his first meal and lifts weights afterwards.
