Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson sideswiped a truck in Massachusetts about a month ago while driving to the set of his upcoming film, "Central Intelligence," and now he and the driver he hit have struck up a friendship.
Johnson posted the story, which currently has more than 471,000 likes, on Instagram Monday.
According to Johnson, he had been jamming to music while driving in his pick-up truck before hearing a loud bang and discovering that he had destroyed the side-view mirror of another pick-up truck. After turning around to return to the scene of his crime, Johnson saw a man walking towards the damaged truck.
"I said 'Sir, is this your truck?' He stopped and stared at me for a good five seconds, looked around his neighborhood, looked back at me and 'Yes it is. Why?' I said, 'Well, sorry to tell ya (sic) I sideswiped it and knocked the hell outta your mirror and may have done even more damage. You give me your info and I'll leave you mine and I'll take care of everything". He stared at me again, cocked his head sideways and said, 'Uhhh . . . Are you The Rock?' I said, 'Yup.' He broke out into a huge smile and said, 'Wow, this is gonna be an awesome story!'"
Before they knew it, they were “standing in the middle of the street pointing to his mirror and laughing like two ole' crazy buddies," Johnson wrote on the photo's caption.
The Boston Globe reported that the man, Audie Bridges of Wakefield, confirmed the incident. Bridges ended up popping the mirror back into place himself and refused any help or remuneration from Johnson. The two men snapped some photos together beside the sideswiped truck, and Bridges posted a photo to his Facebook with the caption, “Guess who I ran into today . . . or should I say who ran into me?”
Johnson concluded his Instagram post thanking Wakefield for being so good-natured during the whole incident, saying, “Life is funny cause you never know who you're gonna run into . . . and sure as hell never know who's truck you're gonna sideswipe while driving to work.”
Social media reaction to the incident widely show support for Johnson and amusement at the whole affair.
