Although unclear what happened as law enforcement and emergency personnel were just arriving at the scene, at least one tweet called it a “crazy explosion.”
Calls to police around 3:17 p.m. all
reported an explosion, according to The New York Times.
Law enforcement sources
told the New York Post that at least 30 people were hurt in the partial building collapse. The building is located at the corner of East Seventh Street and Second Avenue.
