Asian-American actress Elizabeth Sung, a prominent player on "The Young and the Restless" from 1994 to 1996, died Tuesday at the age of 63, Fox News reported.
Sung portrayed the character Luan Violen Abbott, owner of the Saigon Shack, on the soap opera series, as well as numerous other TV appearances on shows that included “Hawaii Five-O,” “The Sopranos,” “Bones,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “NCIS: Los Angeles” and “Charmed.”
She also appeared on the big screen in films that included “The Joy Luck Club” and “Memoirs of Geisha.”
No cause of death has yet been released, according to the New York Daily News.
The Hong Kong-born and -raised actress also appeared in works that were released this year, including the short film "For Izzy” and a recently canceled Netflix series "Disjointed," the New York Daily News reported.
Sung was politically active and championed gender and racial diversity and was active in AIDS charities, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
She’s survived by her husband, screenwriter Peter Tulipan.
