Elton John is "sick to death of Brexit" and thinks all supporters are "stupid" idiots, Fox News reported.
The British music icon did not hold back Wednesday when he let the audience of a concert in Verona, Italy know exactly what he thought about the politicians and voters supporting the campaign.
"I’m ashamed of my country for what it has done. It’s torn people apart … I am sick to death of politicians, especially British politicians," he said. "I am sick to death of Brexit. I am a European. I am not a stupid, colonial, imperialist English idiot."
This is not the first time Elton John has slammed Brexit, Last year he said the entire process was confusing and misleading.
"I don’t think people in Britain were told the truth to start with … They were promised something that was completely ridiculous and wasn’t economically viable," he said, according to The Guardian, noting that Brexit was like "walking through Hampton Court maze blindfolded, being turned around 16 times and trying to find your way out."
The controversial comments at a time when Elton John's career is soaring. In addition to an ongoing world tour and biopic currently in movie theaters, the legendary musician also has an autobiography due out later this year.
"My life has been one helluva roller coaster ride and I’m now ready to tell you my story, in my own words. My first and only official autobiography will be released October 2019," he revealed in a recent tweet.
"I’m not prone to being a nostalgic person. I’m often accused of only looking forward to my next gig or creative project," he previously said of the autobiography, according to USA Today. "It’s come as quite a surprise how cathartic I am finding the process of writing my memoirs. As I look back, I realize what a crazy life I have had the extreme privilege of living."
