When Eric Trump tweeted a picture of his completed ballot this morning, he committed an act that is illegal in New York and he could be fined or even sent to jail for doing so.

The Republican presidential candidate’s son tweeted his ballot around 7 a.m. after voting at the 53rd Street Library in Manhattan. The tweet was later removed.

Lawyer Leo Glickman, who has challenged the law in the past, said Trump could face up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine, although his research for those previous suits turned up no prosecutions of violators in the last several decades, the New York Daily News reported.

The Twittersphere was quick to resurrect his photo and point out that his vote shouldn’t be counted since he broke the law.
