Ron Brackett, a 31-year-old father of three, was killed in the crash in Fairfield, Calif., on Sunday.

According to witnesses, Brackett was making a turn when one of the speeding cars collided with his Mazda sedan, hitting the vehicle directly on the driver’s side, Fox 40 reported.

Brackett, who was reportedly not speeding, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle survived the crash and was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he is said to be in serious condition.

Witnesses at the scene attempted to keep Brackett alive until paramedics arrived, but were unsuccessful.

"I was telling the other people around, 'Come on, we’re losing him! The pulse is going!' And then we lost him before the paramedics arrived," witness Cindy Espinosa, who performed CPR on Brackett, told Fox40.

"He was a good father, he loved his boys, all his boys, he loved them," April Brackett, mother of two of Ron Brackett's children, told ABC affiliate News10.

"He was a wonderful person," added Ron Brackett's 11-year-old son Derek Brackett. "He always kept us safe."

Brackett's current girlfriend, Katie Reynolds, echoed April's sentiment in a separate interview with News10.

"I just want them to know Ron was a really good person, he was a good father and a good boyfriend," Reynolds said.

According to News10, Brackett was within ten minutes of Reynolds' home when he was killed. Reynolds is the mother of Brackett's child, a 10-month-old named Alexander Leonidas.

The driver from the second truck, a late model black Toyota Tundra, reportedly fled the scene following the crash. Police are still searching for the individual.

Hoping to discover the identity of the man through increasing the community's involvement, April Brackett told News10, "We just want the person to come forward and say what really happened to get some kind of closure."
