'Fate of the Furious' Opening is Biggest Ever at Global Box Office

Prior to Easter weekend, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" held the record with $528.9 million at the box office, according to the Business Insider.

The movie, which is a part of the "Fast and the Furious" franchise, brought in $100.2 million domestically, exceeding its expectations of $100 million in the U.S. in its opening weekend, Rolling Stone noted.

The film brought in $432.3 million at the international box office, making it the most accomplished movie worldwide.

This comes after "Furious 7" had an impressive showing at its opening weekend in 2015, when the film made $147.1 million domestically.

Of the many recent box-office hits, "The Fate of the Furious" had no competition in terms of gross ticket sales on its opening weekend, according to ABC News.

According to Box Office Mojo, "The Fate of the Furious" has now become the second movie in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise to make more than $100 million domestically on opening weekend.
