By    |   Wednesday, 28 August 2013 09:44 AM EDT

A woman is in life-threatening but stable condition following a shooting police say was related to a domestic incident on Tuesday at the campus of Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala.

WSFA-TV reported that the Faulkner University shooting victim's husband, who is also not identified, is being held on pending attempted murder charges. The shooting occurred near the maintenance building at the rear of the campus. The victim was a contract employee with the maintenance department.

Faulkner issued a statement that no students were involved in the incident and all offices and classes are operating on regular schedules.

At the time of the shooting Tuesday, Alabama Christian Academy, which is adjacent to Faulkner, was placed on lock down as the university notified students via an emergency text message system, which have become common on college campuses since the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting.

The text informed students and staff on campus to get to the nearest room and lock the door.

But many of Faulkner's Jones School of Law students, staff, and faculty members did not receive the emergency text message, according to a university memo AL.com obtained. The university is working to correct the problem.
