Ferrari Concept Car: Can Futuristic Vehicle Revitalize F1 Racing?

By    |   Tuesday, 17 February 2015 01:41 PM EST

Ferrari released a new Formula One concept car on its website ahead of Tuesday's F1 commission meeting in Geneva.

Yahoo Sports reported that the release is a clear effort to convince the commission that ushering in more dramatic rule changes would be good for the sport. Audience numbers have been waning in recent years, and making F1 more futuristic looking might bring them back, or entice new fans.

The concept car is more than just a pretty face, as its design was co-created with Ferrari's aerodynamics department to be a top performer as well. And, even though it looks futuristic, the design does adhere to the general concept of current regulations.

The Ferrari concept car comes just weeks after Red Bull released its own futuristic one.

Many F1 fans took to social media sites like Twitter to sound off on the future of the sport.
