According to unconfirmed reports, the popular HGTV show “Flip or Flop” may be ending in 2017, after its married co-stars revealed that they had separated months earlier after an uncomfortable altercation.
Tarek and Christina El Moussa confirmed last week that they had separated shortly after a May incident in which Tarek left the couple’s Orange County home with a gun after an argument and ran off into the woods, TMZ reported. Police later questioned Tarek, who said he did not plan to harm himself, and seized five guns from the home.
The couple say they are continuing to evaluate their relationship and its future, but Christina has started seeing another man and doesn’t wish to reconcile, according to a TMZ source.
Extra reports that it was told that El Moussa had dated a nanny he hired to care for the children after the separation.
An unnamed source told E Online that new episodes of “Flip or Flop” are in production and may be filmed in the new year to “fulfill contractual obligations,” but that the show will end after those episodes air.
When announcing their separation, the couple stated that they were committed to both co-parenting their children (Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 1) and to continuing their professional lives together, according to TMZ.
In addition to the show, the El Moussas are writing a book together called “Flip Your Life.” The book will detail how they changed their lives and found success, according to TV Guide.
HGTV told TV Guide that the “Flip or Flop” production schedule was not impacted by the couple’s split. “When it comes to matters related to their own family, we respect their privacy and honor any decision that works best for them and their children,” the network said.
