Josie Harris, Floyd Mayweather's ex-girlfriend and the mother of his three children, has filed a $20 million defamation lawsuit against the boxer just days after he won the high-profile title match with Manny Pacquiao.
According to E! Online, Mayweather sat down for a public interview with Katie Couric last month, and denied physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend during a September 2010 incident that led to his arrest.
"Did I kick, stomp, and beat someone? No, that didn't happen," Floyd told Couric. "Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did. So if they say that's domestic violence, then, you know what? I'm guilty. I'm guilty of restraining someone."
In her lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court this week, Harris claims that she is not a drug addict, and that Mayweather "maliciously lied about his beating" of her, "disclaiming any responsibility for the attack that left Harris with serious injuries."
"[T]hese lies were calculated to serve harm," both of a personal and professional nature, it adds.
The September 2010 incident ultimately saw Mayweather plead guilty to a reduced charge of misdemeanor battery and two counts of harassment, for which he served two months in prison.
CNN reported that Mayweather is likely to receive more than $100 million for his most recent fight.
