A food fight led to criminal charges being filed against several students at a Tennessee high school when things got out of hand during the cafeteria's "Taco Day."
The incident occurred at Wilson Central High School in Lebanon when several seniors apparently initiated a food throwing frenzy that quickly escalated into tables and chairs being flipped across the lunchroom. Eight students subsequently faced misdemeanor criminal charges for their involvement in the culinary melee and the apparent vandalism that followed,
The Lebanon Democrat reported.
According to Wilson County Sheriff Robert Bryan, of the eight students issued misdemeanor citations four were juveniles while the other four were charged as adults. All eight of the students were subsequently released to their parents, Bryan added.

"There are probably more charges to come," Bryan told The Lebanon Democrat. "We are reviewing surveillance video. When it started, the majority of the students backed off, but these students continued to throw food."
In addition to the criminal charges, several of the seniors involved in the food fight are also reportedly being denied the privilege of walking on stage to accept their diploma during the upcoming graduation ceremony,
WSMV Channel 4 News reported.
School officials have yet to address the graduation ban despite repeated inquiries from local media; however a representative in the central office told WSMV Channel 4 News that the administration dealt with the incident according to the code of conduct.
Viewing the graduation ban as draconian for what they say was essentially a school prank, parents of the seniors are reportedly taking their issue to the school in the hopes that it will permit the students to take part in the graduation ceremony alongside their peers.
"I think everything else we got is tolerable. You gotta do it. But walking the line, that's taking away something that's once in a lifetime, also," Wilson Central senior John Davidson told WSMV.
"It was their senior prank. I don't think it was worth their not being able to walk the line. But the food fight was worth it. I can mark it off my bucket list," added Wilson Central junior Kelsey Shipp. "Their parents are pretty mad about it. I would be, too."
