Forbes' list of America's Riches Self-Made Women features Kylie Jenner, who boasts a net worth of $900 million at age 20 and is poised to become the youngest self-made billionaire ever.
Born to Kris and Caitlyn Jenner, she is the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenners, who have remained in the spotlight with their reality show "Keeping up With the Kardashians," Glamour noted.
Kylie Jenner carved a name for herself at an early age through various modeling shoots but is now drawing attention for her business pursuits, which have launched her net worth past that of her famous half-sister Kim Kardashian West, who also made the list for the first time, with a net worth estimated at $350 million, Forbes noted.
Two years ago, she launched Kylie Cosmetics, a makeup brand that initially consisted of a $29 "lip kit" featuring a matching set of lipstick and lip liner, Forbes noted.
Fast forward to the present day and the 20-year-old has sold more than $630 million worth of makeup, including $330 million in 2017.
Her company has since expanded its range to include other cosmetic items, upping its estimated worth to nearly $800 million, according to Forbes.
Kylie Jenner has kept her overhead costs low, outsourcing a lot of the work to other people and companies, while maintaining a small staff complement, which means that she pockets a large portion of profits.
It does not hurt that she owns 100 percent of Kylie Cosmetics, or that she has taken around $60 million in estimated after-tax dividends from her company. She also earns millions from endorsements and TV programs.
Based on this, Forbes has estimated that her net worth is $900 million, making her the youngest person on the fourth-annual ranking of America's Richest Self-Made Women. With continued grown, the magazine noted, she could unseat Mark Zuckerberg as the youngest billionaire ever. The Facebook founder became a billionaire at age 23.
