The Ford Bronco SUV will make a comeback to the automaker's lineup in 2020 along with the Ranger mid-size pickup truck in 2019, Ford officially announced Monday at the 2017 Detroit auto show.

The popular Bronco has not been made in 11 years, and the Ranger has been sold overseas but not in the U.S. since 2011. Both cars were selected to help Ford compete with other carmakers like Chevy and Toyota, which have recently released trucks and SUVs similar to those on tap from Ford, according to Business Insider.

Both new auto models will be manufactured at Ford’s Michigan Assembly Plant, which was announced previously by UAW plant boss Bill Johnson after criticism from Trump about Ford sending jobs to Mexico, according to Automobile magazine.

Although some Bronco enthusiasts may be hoping the new SUV will be similar to the original, Automobile magazine expects the new model will be similar to “an off-road Ford Edge,” and that the new Ranger will be an update of the model currently sold overseas with four doors and an extended cab.

Official details about either model have not been forthcoming yet, however.

Rumors of both the Bronco's and Ranger's return have been swirling around the industry for the last few years, with outlets reporting in 2015 that Ford’s planning team was considering them both for return to the lineup.

The decision to bring back the Bronco and Ranger models fits in well with overall trends in the auto market, with SUVs being extremely popular and both GM and Toyota bringing back mid-size trucks to their lineups, Business Insider noted.
