'Fortune' One-Letter Guess Leaves Pat Sajak Speechless

By    |   Thursday, 19 February 2015 08:42 AM EST

A "Wheel of Fortune" contestant needed just one letter to figure out a 17-word puzzle on an episode that aired on Tuesday night, leaving host Pat Sajak momentarily speechless, but it wasn't the first time it happened recently.

The contestant, only known as Rufus, needed only a "T" to correctly guess "Championship Match" as the correct answer for the "Wheel of Fortune" puzzle.

"We've seen some unbelievable solves on 'Wheel of Fortune,' some super cringey fails (sometimes so bad Pat Sajak walks off stage), and now another contestant is blowing our minds with just one letter," wrote Alex Ungerman of Entertainment Tonight.

"Rufus was given the category 'Event' and was working with just one 'T' on a 17-letter puzzle when he came through with this guess worthy of a total champion," said Ungerman.

On a Dec. 26 episode of "Wheel of Fortune," Pennsylvania father Matt DeSanto began a dominate hot streak like no other on the show, needing just an "E" to guess "The Lone Ranger" for a 13-word show puzzle, according to the "Today" show.

DeSanto, who said he was a longtime "Wheel of Fortune" fan, went on to rack up $91,892 during his appearance on the show, according to "Today."

"The wheel definitely worked in my favor," said DeSanto. "I was extremely fortunate."

Tuesday night's guess appeared to impress many on social media as well.
