Fried Chicken Corsage 'Promposals' a Viral Hit Thanks to KFC (Video)

By    |   Thursday, 15 May 2014 09:13 AM EDT

KFC's fried chicken corsages offered up for prom season are sweeping the nation, with many reporting that they're already sold out.

The Louisville-based company partnered with local florist Nanz & Kraft to commission 100 of the highly exclusive corsage kits for its latest marketing campaign, which also features a video of cute, awkward teens headed to prom, USA Today reported

"Word is spreading, and they're going pretty fast," Angie Searcy, general manager of Nanz & Kraft, told the newspaper. "We are shipping them all over the place. The bulk of [the orders] are from different cities and states, not actually Kentucky."

The corsage kits cost a mere $20, and — thankfully — they don't ship you the chicken.

Instead, the kits include the Baby's Breath flower bed and a $5 KFC gift card. That way, the chicken can be bought fresh on the big day, and the lucky recipient can choose their preference among Original Recipe, Extra Crispy, or Kentucky Grilled Chicken.

The ad ploy is just the latest funny and outrageous campaign from the company that caused quite a stir in 2010 with its controversial Double Down sandwich, which replaced buns with pieces of fried chicken and became an instant hit with teens.

Many have tweeted their reactions, and many of those lucky enough to get their hands on one of the corsages have posted their "promposals" as well as pictures of the corsages in action on the big day itself.
