Disney has set the release date for “Frozen 2,” the followup to 2013’s hugely popular “Frozen,” which broke box office records to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time and an instant classic.
The sequel will be released Nov. 27, 2019, Disney announced Tuesday while adjusting release dates for some other upcoming movies such as "Star Wars Episode IX" (moved up six months) and "A Wrinkle in Time" (moved up a month), according to Hypable.
Although the announcement was short on plot details, most of the original cast is expected to return for the sequel. Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell will both reprise their roles as Elsa and Anna, respectively, and directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck will also be back in action for "Frozen 2," Screen Rant reported.
"Frozen" ended with Elsa once again the queen of Arendelle and Anna beginning a relationship with Kristoff, and the only update on the storyline was 2015’s short, “Frozen Fever,” which showed everyone getting along well as Elsa tried to give Anna a nice birthday despite being sick and having her powers get a bit agitated.
Disney is, of course, keeping the plot for "Frozen 2" pretty tightly under wraps, so fans will just have to wait and see what happens.
Although some on Twitter expressed that “Frozen” may have played itself out a bit, most of them were still excited about the promise of more icy fun.
