'Frozen 2': Sequel to Record-Breaking Film Confirmed by Disney

"Frozen 2," a sequel to the record-breaking original movie, is officially in the works at Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Disney confirmed Thursday that rumors of a second “Frozen” movie are true, and the team that produced the first blockbuster is back on board. Director Chris Buck, director/writer Jennifer Lee, and producer Peter Del Vecho will make the second movie, the company announced at its annual shareholders meeting.

What Forbes magazine called the “Frozen obsession” gave Walt Disney record earnings last year, and few were surprised the company would make a sequel.

“The company saw overall revenue growth of 10% and earnings growth of 41%, primarily driven by the success of ‘Frozen,’” Forbes wrote of Disney’s 2014 second quarter.
