A Norwegian funeral home said it won't bury Casey Kasem after the radio star's daughter started an online petition to protest his widow's wish to bury him there. Kasem died in June.
"The funeral home in Norway refused to bury my Dad! Now, we are going to send letters and the Care2 petition to the hospital that is holding my father's body," Kerri Kasem announced Monday on Twitter. "We wanted 10,000 signatures and we more than doubled that. Thank you to everyone that signed and shared the petition."
According to Entertainment Tonight, Kerri started the petition in August. In it, she asked Casey's widow, Jean Kasem, to "respect Casey's wishes," which she claimed were to be buried at Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles.
Kerri's petition received over 23,000 signatures in the two months it was active.
At Jean's directive, Kasem's body was flown from Washington state to Montreal in July, a month after his death, leading his children to charge that he was missing. Kasem's death certificate, filed on July 15, lists the Urgel Bourgie funeral home in Montreal as the place of disposition.
The feud between Jean Kasem, the executor of Casey's will, and her adult stepchildren has played out for more than a year with charges and counter charges involving the radio host and his end-of-life care. The children claimed a year ago that Jean Kasem denied them access to their father even after a court order remanded care to his daughter Kerri.
