Actor Zach Galifianakis will walk the red carpet at the upcoming premiere of "The Hangover Part III" later this week with an 87-year-old woman he rescued from homelessness.
Galifianakis, 43, struck up a friendship with Elizabeth "Mimi" Haist almost 20 years ago when he was a struggling actor in Los Angeles and she worked at a local laundry mat. After learning she was homeless, Galifianakis took Haist under his wing and started paying rent on a one-bedroom apartment for her.

Now, Haist will accompany Galifianakis as he attends the premiere of the third installment of the "Hangover" franchise this week.
"I'm looking forward to it, I like the excitement of it," Haist told the New York Daily News.
This isn't the first time Galifianakis has taken Haist to a movie premiere. She was on his arm for "The Hangover Part II" and "The Campaign" premieres.
"If he's in town, he takes me. Otherwise he lets me take a friend. I dress up nice and a friend helps me with my makeup," Haist told the Daily News. "It's fun, not something I've ever dreamed I'd experience. The limo takes me home afterwards."
Haist said she is now an expert on movie premieres.
"All the fans were taking photos and I waved at them, I said, 'They don’t know who I am!'" she said of her prior premiere experiences. "Afterwards, they have a party at somewhere close by and you meet the stars. I drink lemon drop martinis with Grey Goose vodka."
Galifianakis isn't the only celebrity giving back to those less fortunate. Last month, NFL wide receiver
Chad Johnson hung out with a homeless man for 48 hours straight, drinking beers, buying him a new wardrobe, and hitting the clubs with his new friend he dubbed "Pork Chop."
