Garth Brooks, country music superstar and longtime digital music holdout, is launching his own store — called GhostTunes — to compete with iTunes.
Not only will GhostTunes feature artists like Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, Coldplay, Maroon 5, and Ariana Grande, but it will also contain Brooks' entire music catalog, which has never before
been available digitally, according to Rolling Stone.
"We watched the digital revolution move in and we were on the sidelines," he said during a press conference at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois, on Thursday. "I wanted a place that just sold entertainment and to sell it any way the artist wanted it sold."

The digital music release was part of a promise Brooks made to fans back in July when he announced his first world tour in 13 years. During a news conference at the time he said he would produce another album and sell his music digitally for, in his words, "a stupid price."
To his word, GhostTunes, which is competing against iTunes for customers, is offering a digital package that allows Garth Brooks fans to buy the star's first eight studio albums, his 1998 "Double Live" album, along with pre-orders his next two albums for
just $29.99, according to USA Today.
"When it's used right, it can do wonders for the artists," Brooks said of downloading music at the July news conference. "And even better, it can do wonders for the songwriters."
Brooks' career is full-steam ahead with his new single "People Loving People," which hit radio stations Wednesday. His upcoming album is expected to be released Nov. 28, according to USA Today. The country star also has another album of new material scheduled for the following fall.
Brooks also hit the stage this week in Chicago where he kicked off the new world tour.
He had previously retired from touring in 2000 to spend time with his wife, Trisha Yearwood, and his three daughters.
