A gender reveal party shooting left a woman dead and eight others injured in Colerain Township, Ohio, on Saturday evening.
Two gunmen reportedly opened fire on a group that had gathered at a residential home on Capstan Drive for the party being held for a pregnant women, who was to reveal the gender of her expected child, WLWT News 5 reported.
The woman who was killed was identified as 22-year-old Autum Garrett of Huntington, Indiana, according to the station. Others injured included three children, ages 8, 6 and 2. The pregnant woman reportedly lost her baby after being shot in the leg, family members told WLWT News 5.
In an audio recording of the emergency call placed to 911 by a witness, a woman said she was sitting in her car when the incident took place, Cincinatti.com reported.
She described how the two gunmen, one wearing a blue hoodie and the other wearing a green hoodie, entered the house, opened fire and then ran out.
"I was in my car in front of the house. They didn't see me," she said in the 911 call. "They were walking by and I thought they were acting sneaky and then they turned back around, ran in the house and started shooting."
Colerain Township Police Chief Mark Denney confirmed the incident during a news conference, according to CNN.
"At 11:21 p.m. last night our officers were dispatched to 9900 block of Capstan Drive for shots fired," he said. "Upon their arrival they discovered nine people had been shot inside of a residence. Colerain Township Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, along with assistance of other agencies, transported the victims to area hospitals, but sadly one victim was pronounced dead at the scene."
Denney added that the other victims were believed to be in non-life-threatening conditions.
A motive for the shooting has not yet been established and police are uncertain as to whether the victims had been targeted or if the suspects intended to shoot somebody else, reported Fox News.
"Our criminal investigative unit is working hard to follow up on any leads and interview witnesses," said Denney at the news conference. "At the time we have no suspect information to pass on to you. This will obviously be our entire focus moving forward."
