"I couldn't be more thrilled to start our ‘Money Monster’ adventure alongside such a talented and passionate team," Foster said, according to UPI. "(Chairman) Tom Rothman and TriStar really get the movie and are the best cheerleaders our filmmaking team could hope for."

The movie features Clooney as a television host who offers stock advice and is held hostage on TV by an investor who lost his money.

The script is by Jamie Linden. Producers are Daniel Dubiecki, Lara Alameddine, Clooney, and Grant Heslov.

Clooney, who currently is shooting “Hail Caesar,” will appear in “Tomorrowland,” scheduled for release in May. Foster has directed has directed “The Beaver,” “Home for the Holidays” and “Little Man Tate.” She also directed two episodes of “Orange is the New Black.”

"It is impossible to resist saying that we at TriStar hit the talent jackpot today,” Rothman said in a statement. “We are deeply grateful to all the exceptional people involved. … And, as the bonus coupon on this blue chip investment, we get to enjoy George Clooney in a tour de force acting part. I have no doubt that his collaboration with Jodie will produce an iconic and cool film."
