George Clooney has vowed to sue members of the paparazzi for allegedly snapping illegal pictures of him and wife Amal Clooney with their newborn twin babies.
Clooney said he did not give consent for photos of his twins, which appeared on the cover of the French magazine Voici, and said the pictures were obtained by photographers trespassing on his property, TMZ reported.
“Over the last week photographers from Voici magazine scaled our fence, climbed our tree and illegally took pictures of our infants inside our home,” Clooney said in a statement to Deadline. “Make no mistake the photographers, the agency and the magazine will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
The Clooneys welcomed twins Alexander and Ella last month.
The photos were reportedly taken at Clooney’s estate in Italy. According to TMZ, the law there makes it illegal for photographers to snap pics looking into a private residence or where people are normally hidden from visibility.
Similarly, French law states that "public figures -- like George — can only be photographed while going about their public lives . . . and only for journalistic purposes," the celebrity gossip site noted.
A rep for the French magazine said that the pictures were “a response to a public demand” and that they “do not put in danger Mr. Clooney, his wife, or their kids,” UPI reported.
Twitter was outraged by the photos being published, even though some clearly weren’t fond of Clooney himself.
