George Takei, the "Star Trek" legend who has amassed quite an online following in recent years, has been tapped to lead the world's largest chicken dance at this year's Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati.
Takei, 76, best known for his role as Hikaru Sulu on TV's "Star Trek," will serve as the grand marshal at the September festival celebrating German food and beer. Part of that honor includes

"He is a cultural phenomenon,"
Pat Sheeran, vice president of corporate and community programming at the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, told Cincinnati.com. "He’s a true celebrity. He's going to be fun and add a new level of excitement and energy to the event."
Fans of the actor are excited about his new gig as grand marshal of the festival.
Previous grand marshals include Cincinnati Reds stars Tom Browning and Joe Morgan, trumpeter Al Hirt, music satirist Weird Al Yankovic, and Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil.
Oktoberfest-Zinzinnati will run Sept. 20-22 with the chicken dance on Sept. 21.
