Shellie Zimmerman, who is in the middle of divorce proceedings from her husband George Zimmerman, was injured in a car accident in Florida when an
alleged drunk driver ran straight into her vehicle, ClickOrlando reports.
Zimmerman was taken to the Winter Park Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries after her car was hit by a vehicle that ran a red light, ClickOrlando said. Nicholas Austin, 31, was driving the other car and refused to take a Breathalyzer test; police cited him for the accident and arrested him on suspicion of DUI.

A passenger in Zimmerman’s car, Andrea Timko, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, ClickOrlando said. The airbags in the car deployed.
Shellie Zimmerman filed for a divorce in September from George Zimmerman, the Florida man acquitted of killing Trayvon Martin.
The New York Daily News reported in September that Shellie Zimmerman asked for permanent life insurance and the couple’s dogs in the divorce settlement. She also asked for an equal distribution of any assets from the marriage.
Assets could include any settlement that George Zimmerman will get from a lawsuit he currently has in place against NBC News, which has apologized for the editing the news station did when replaying a 911 call George Zimmerman made after the shooting.
The edit made it seem as if George Zimmerman told the operator that Martin was black, when he really was responding to a question from the operator, the Post said.
Martin’s killing ignited racial tensions across the country, with many believing that George Zimmerman profiled Martin.
