Geraldo Rivera spoofed Donald Trump on “Dancing With the Stars” on Monday, and the episode also featured Trump’s ex-wife, Marla Maples.
"If I didn't get eliminated tonight, I would have demanded a recount," Rivera said with good humor after he was eliminated from the competition,
the Orlando Sentinel reported.
The Fox News journalist wore a blond wig, and his dance partner, Edyta Sliwinska, “just danced around Rivera,” the Sentinel wrote. “The fake hair was as bad as the fake dance.”
During the routine, Geraldo, 72, impersonated Trump in the White House, and soon became the first contestant to be kicked off Season 22 of the show. He got a score of 13 for the performance.
"Unfortunately you did not make dance great again, but you did make me laugh," said judge Carrie Ann Inaba.
The routine grabbed widespread attention upon airing, and
the New York Daily News described it thus: “Looking more orange than usual and in a flowery shirt, Rivera stiffly did a salsa; more showman than dancer. He appeared to have a lot of fun.”
Maples said she thought Trump would take Rivera’s spoof with good humor,
Fox News reported.
"I think he'd probably have fun watching it. He likes Geraldo. They've worked together; they've known each other longer than I've known him," said Maples, who earned a score of 20 for her tango with partner Tony Dovolani.
Twitter users had mixed reactions to the parody.
