Ghost on Camera at Idaho School: Footage Proves Paranormal Haunting

By    |   Monday, 12 January 2015 01:42 PM EST

A ghost was reportedly caught on camera roaming the halls of an Idaho high school on Dec. 19, according to two paranormal experts who were called in to help students and faculty explain years of strange activities inside the nearly 100-year-old building.

John and Lisa Brian, cofounders of the Scientific Paranormal Investigative Research Organization, told KIDK-TV that students, faculty, and staff at Pocatello High School, located in Bannock County in southeastern Idaho, said the building has been haunted for years.

The Brians said that theater students, teachers, and janitors, for example, refuse to be alone in the school's theater or the changing room at night since they have often heard people talking or the piano playing when nobody was there.

The couple believes they got the evidence they need to show the school is actually haunted by a ghost, according to KIDK-TV. Footage purportedly from a school surveillance camera appears to show a shadowy figure graze against a drinking fountain before walking to the bathroom and then walking down the hallway.

"We have watched it multiple times and even slowed it down and really analyzed it. It's a really great piece of footage," Lisa Brian told KIDK-TV. "You can just see the lights going on and off. The police were called because of these issues going on in the building — all of that just goes to show that it wasn't something someone just put on there, but instead it was something that really happened."

The Idaho State Journal wrote that Jeff Jolley, an information technician for District 25, first saw the video and reported it to principal Lisa Delonas, who then forwarded it to staff members. Emily Thornton, a former Pocatello student who now teaches journalism and English at the school, also saw the images.

She told the State Journal they were preceded by flickering lights that triggered the alarm system and caused Pocatello police to respond.

"Anytime that the lights are effected, the alarm is triggered," Thornton told the newspaper, saying the video posted on YouTube created a stir in the school's community. "Plus there are a number of motion detectors at the school."

The school building has been around since 1917, with a gymnasium and auditorium added in 1932, according to the State Journal.
